NAHCON CHAIRMAN, PROFESSOR ABDULLAHI SALE USMAN, CALLS FOR UNITY AND PRAYERS FOR NIGERIA DURING JUMA’AT SERMON
The chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Sale Usman, today led the Juma’at prayer at the Area 11 Juma’at mosque in Abuja, delivering a thought-provoking sermon that centered on the theme of unity, peaceful coexistence, and national development.
In his address to the congregation, Professor Abdullahi Usman made a passionate appeal to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria to rise above all forms of religious, ethnic, and sectarian divides and embrace purposeful unity for the collective progress of the nation.
He emphasized that Islam encouraged brotherhood, tolerance, and cooperation, especially in times of national challenges and global uncertainty.
“Now, more than ever, we need to come together not just as Muslims but as Nigerians to foster peace, understanding, and unity. Our strength lies in our diversity, and our progress depends on our ability to work together as one Ummah,” Professor Usman stated.
Professor Abdullahi Sale Usman urged Muslims to consistently pray for leaders at all levels, stressing that goodwill and positive prayers can go a long way in influencing good governance, stability, and the socio-economic advancement of the country.
“Let us not be among those who only criticize. We must complement our concerns with prayers and sincere advice. Leadership is a burden, and our leaders need our support through constructive engagement and prayers for divine guidance,” he added.
The sermon attracted the attention of various dignitaries, government officials, traditional leaders, scholars, and members of the Muslim community who converged on the mosque for the weekly congregational prayers.
The gathering served not only as a religious engagement but also as a moment for reflection and collective resolve towards peacebuilding.

Wedding Fatiha was also conducted between Abdulbasit Musa and Maryam Abdullahi Karshi, daughter of the chief imam of Area 11 Juma’at Mosque, after the congregational prayers.
