TIME TO WAKE UP: SENATOR ABDULAZIZ MUSA YAR’ADUA HAS FAILED KATSINA CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT

When the people of Katsina Central Senatorial District voted for Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, fondly known as “Audu Soja,” it was more an act of sympathy and sentiment than one of strategic political judgment.
Many cast their ballots not for his leadership record, of which there was none, but in remembrance of his late elder brother, President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, whose legacy still touches the hearts of many Nigerians far beyond Katsina. But today, that sentimental gesture has turned into a deep-rooted regret across the district.
Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, a retired colonel of the Nigerian Army, has shown a gross lack of political will, responsiveness, and development vision. His name in the Senate has so far produced no tangible democratic dividends for the people of Katsina Central Senatorial District. Instead of serving as a bridge between the people and the Federal government, he has chosen the path of absence, silence, and indifference.
This is not the first time he’s tried his luck in politics. He had previously contested for a seat in the House of Representatives and lost, and justifiably so, because even then, the electorate was not convinced of his capacity. But the passing of his more illustrious brother created a political sympathy wave that swept him into office. A wave now met with the crashing tide of disillusionment and betrayal.
Despite his appointment as the chairman of the Senate committee on the army, banditry, kidnapping, and killings have intensified not just in southern Katsina but within his senatorial district.
One would expect a senator with a military background to show a visible commitment to fighting insecurity, but unfortunately, that portfolio seems more like a personal title than a working responsibility.
The people of Katsina Central Senatorial District should not be deceived by titles, uniforms, or family names. None of these can replace genuine service delivery, active engagement, and impactful legislation. What good is it to have a senator who neither speaks for you, fights for your needs, nor brings federal presence to your constituency?
Our roads remain deplorable. Our youth remain jobless. Our communities remain unsafe. Our women, children, and elderly continue to suffer in silence while Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua remains invisible and inactive in the affairs of those who gave him the mandate.
It is high time we said ENOUGH is ENOUGH.
Katsina Central Senatorial District needs a true representative, not a shadow one. We need someone with fresh ideas, integrity, political courage, and a genuine grassroots connection.
The next election cycle must not be based on sentiments or family history, it must be based on performance, vision, and people-centered leadership.
To the youths, elders, political stakeholders, and every citizen of Katsina Central Senatorial District: the time to organize is now. Let us begin to search, support, and promote a credible alternative who will not abandon us in Abuja but will represent our pains, dreams, and future with honor and action.
The days of failed representatives wearing the cloak of legacy must come to an end. We must rise and take back our voice in the Nigerian Senate.
